Here’s What PCB Will Be Paying the Mentors for Pakistan’s New Domestic Competition

The mentors for the upcoming Champions Cup organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will each receive a substantial remuneration package of Rs 1.5 crore over a three-year contract, with an annual payment of Rs 50 lakh.

Recently, PCB unveiled a strategic initiative to enhance talent development by appointing renowned former cricketers as mentors for its upcoming domestic competition called the Champions Cup.

The mentors, Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Malik, are to identify and nurture emerging cricket talent across Pakistan. Each Champions Cup team will be supported by a 10-member staff, comprising a head coach, vice coach, manager, and other essential roles, to ensure comprehensive development and management.

Pakistan is currently experiencing a shortage of quality spinners, and the PCB is optimistic that Saqlain Mushtaq, with his expertise, will address this gap. The board aims to leverage the experience of these former stars to refine and support new talent discovered during the tournament, ultimately strengthening the national team.

Waqar Younis, who recently stepped down from his position as an adviser to the PCB chairman, has embraced the mentor role, which offers flexibility and attractive compensation without the demands of strict office hours. Similarly, Sarfaraz Ahmed remains committed to the national team and is available for selection if needed.

Shoaib Malik, who continues to play in various leagues and has not officially retired, will also contribute his expertise to his team during the domestic event.
