The Punjab government has announced a major overhaul of its pension system, transitioning to a digital process.
A Gazette notification detailing the new Punjab Pension Rules has been issued, moving from traditional paper-based methods to a complete digital system.
Under the new system, “E-Pension Papers” will replace traditional “Pension Papers,” and the application process has been fully digitized. Medical certificates will now be known as “e-medical certificates.”
This transition is part of broader amendments to the Punjab Civil Servants Act of 1974, designed to modernize and streamline pension administration. The Secretary of the Finance Department Punjab has issued the Gazette Notification to formalize these changes.
In separate news, the Punjab government has directed all departments to switch to an online system for managing employee attendance and leave records.
The Chief Secretary of Punjab has mandated that all government departments adopt an online system for tracking employee attendance and leave.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will oversee the implementation of the new online attendance and leave system. PITB is responsible for developing the software, providing technical support, and ensuring a smooth transition to the digital platform.
