Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Domestic Cricket Champions Cup, citing deep dissatisfaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In a scathing statement, Shehzad criticized the PCB for what he described as “favoritism, false promises, and injustice” towards domestic players.

Shehzad expressed his discontent with the allocation of resources within the PCB, particularly the appointment of high-paid mentors.

“With a heavy heart, I’ve decided not to play in the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup. The PCB’s favoritism, false promises, and injustice towards domestic players are unacceptable. In a time when Pakistan is struggling with inflation, poverty, and massive electricity bills, the PCB is wasting 5 million Rs on mentors for doing nothing and rewarding failed players in the current team who brought Pakistan cricket to an All-time Low.” he stated.

Shehzad’s statement comes right after Pakistan’s debacle against Bangladesh in the first Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium where the Bengal Tigers recorded their first victory against Pakistan in red-ball cricket.

“It’s even more disrespectful that the PCB claims they don’t have ‘instruments for surgery’ which is a huge disrespect for domestic players.” he lamented.

The cricketer also took issue with the PCB’s recent comments about not having “instruments for surgery,” interpreting this as a disrespectful remark towards domestic players.

“As a Pakistani and true cricket lover, I cannot support a system that has no value for merit,I refuse to be a part of this failed setup.” Shehzad declared, highlighting his unwillingness to continue participating in what he perceives as a flawed and unjust cricketing setup.

Shehzad’s withdrawal from the tournament marks a significant statement against the PCB, raising questions about the board’s internal management and its impact on the future of Pakistan cricket.
