A major scandal has erupted within the Pakistan Nursing Council as its President, Farzana Zulfiqar, has been accused of holding unverified degrees.
The allegations were brought to light by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, which conducted a thorough investigation into the matter.
According to the HEC, Farzana Zulfiqar obtained her degrees from the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Programme Institute , an institution that is not recognized by the commission.
The HEC’s verification process revealed that the institute is not listed on the UNESCO website, further raising concerns about the legitimacy of its credentials.
Furthermore, the HEC emphasized that the institute does not possess charter status, a requirement for any institution to be recognized by the commission. This means that the HEC does not consider the Kaiser Permanente to be a legitimate educational institution.
Complaints regarding Farzana Zulfiqar’s degrees were received by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Furthermore, it has been discovered that Farzana Zulfiqar’s appointment as a council member under the Gilgit-Baltistan quota was illegal. This revelation has added another layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
