The 31-year-old will become the fourth Pakistani player, after Wasim Akram, Junaid Khan and Hasan Ali, to represent Lancashire throughout their history. Wasim Akram, regarded as one of the finest pacers in cricketing history, is also regarded as one of the best overseas players to have played for the County.

As for Ali, the right-arm pacer, has been one of the most in-form pacers in Pakistan’s domestic circuit and has been a mainstay of the national team Test squad over the past year.

Nicknamed Daisy, Ali has been a consistent performer at the domestic level, having taken 152 wickets at an average of 25.96 in 42 first-class matches. His performances on the international arena have been lacklustre so far, having picked up only 6 wickets in the 3* matches played so far.

Ali’s consistent performances in first-class has earned him a place in the Lancashire squad which will further help in enhancing his skill level and achieve greater heights in the international arena. His selection is also testament to the fast-bowling riches in the country, despite some glaring question marks on the teams recent performances in the international circuit.

Here is the schedule of Daisy’s County matches:

17 – 20 September Somerset
26 – 29 September Worcestershire
