Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has lashed out at the national team’s Test cricket performance following their staggering series loss to Bangladesh on home soil.
The two-match series, held in Rawalpindi, saw Pakistan suffer defeats in both Tests, marking an unprecedented low for the team in recent months.
Under the leadership of Shan Masood, Pakistan faced intense scrutiny after their humiliating defeat in the series opener, marking the first time they lost a Test to Bangladesh at home.
The situation worsened with a six-wicket loss in the second Test, further fueling criticism of the team’s capabilities and the decision-making of the coaching staff.
Ahmed Shehzad expressed his frustrations on social media, sharing a video titled “Home Turf Humiliation” on X (formerly Twitter). He lambasted the team’s performance, accusing them of lacking the skill and determination needed to compete at the highest level.
“Bangladesh has whitewashed Pakistan in their conditions. You don’t know how to play, you’re not capable enough” Shehzad remarked, highlighting the visitors’ dominance despite challenging circumstances in their own country.
The second Test was particularly disheartening, as Pakistan collapsed to 172 in their second innings after initially having Bangladesh on the ropes at 26/6.
Litton Das’s century and Mehidy Hasan’s 78 rescued Bangladesh, allowing them to secure a historic series victory in Rawalpindi.
Shehzad praised Bangladesh for its resilience and tactical acumen, contrasting it sharply with Pakistan’s struggles. The loss extends Pakistan’s home Test winless streak to 10 matches, with their last victory dating back to 2021.
