Motorola has expanded its smartphone lineup with the launch of the Moto S50, following the release of its sibling, the Moto S50 Neo, in June. The Moto S50 is only available in China for now but should become available in other regions later, likely with a different name.
Design and Display

The Moto S50 boasts an impressive 6.36-inch LTPO pOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering a smooth and responsive user experience. The display boasts a resolution of 2,670 x 1,272 pixels, supports HDR10+ for enhanced visual quality, and can reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits for excellent outdoor visibility. For added security and convenience, an under-display fingerprint reader is seamlessly integrated into the screen.
Internals and Software
On the inside, there is a Dimensity 7300 SoC in charge of all the heavy lifting alongside 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, but there is no SD card slot for storage expansion.
For software, you get a clean Android 14 interface with no custom skins on top. Motorola will likely provide updates for a minimum of 2 years.
Cameras
On the photography front, the Moto S50 features a versatile triple-camera system. The setup comprises a 50MP primary camera with Sony’s IMX896 sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 123-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom and OIS for capturing distant subjects with clarity.
The front camera inside the punch-hole cutout is a 32MP shooter capable of recording 4K footage.
Battery and Pricing
The Moto S50 is one of the rare budget phones that come with wireless charging and is rated at 15W. This is on top of a 4,310 mAh battery that has 68W wired charging support.
The Motorola Moto S50 has a starting price of only $310 in China and the colors are called Nautical Blue, Latte, and Poinciana.
