Motorola has launched its latest Edge series phone in India making headlines for being the slimmest IP68-rated phone with military-grade durability. In short, this phone is just as tough as rugged phones without any of the bulky appearance.
Design and Display
Measuring just 7.79 millimeters thick, the Edge 50 is the thinnest smartphone on the market that can withstand water, dust, and drops, having passed over 30 rigorous tests to prove it.
The phone boasts a 6.7-inch curved OLED screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It can hit 1900 nits of peak brightness and show 1 billion different shades of colors since it’s a 10-bit panel.
Internals and Software
Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition processor, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, powers the device. There is no memory card slot for storage expansion.
Motorola has promised 2 years of software updates on top of Android 14 that comes out of the box.
Cameras
The main camera setup consists of 3 shooters, a 50MP primary shooter based on a Sony LYT-700C sensor, a 10MP telephoto unit that allows for 3x optical zoom, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. Video recording goes up to 4K 30 FPS and 1080p slow motion.
The 32MP selfie camera has a wide-angle lens and records videos in 4K.
Battery and Pricing
The 5,000 mAh battery comes with 68W wired charging as well as 15W wireless charging, but there is no wireless charging support.
The Motorola Edge 50 is available for $334 in India in Jungle Green, Peach Fuzz, and Koala Grey.
