The Punjab government has decided to incorporate its ongoing low-cost housing projects in semi-urban areas into the ‘Apna Ghar Apni Chhat’ initiative by Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz. This decision aims to provide affordable housing solutions to a broader segment of the population.
The Punjab government has launched low-cost housing schemes in Lahore, Sargodha, and Chiniot. During the ninth meeting of the Punjab Cabinet’s Standing Committee on Legislation, these projects were thoroughly reviewed. The Department of Housing and Urban Development provided a detailed briefing on the progress and scope of the low-cost housing schemes.
The committee has tasked the Department of Housing with the swift completion of these housing units, which are designed to be up to three marlas in size. To facilitate this, the immediate release of funds for the proposed schemes has been ordered, ensuring that financial resources are available to expedite the construction process.
The completion of these low-cost housing schemes is contingent upon the approval of the Punjab Cabinet. Once approved, the integration into CM Maryam Nawaz ‘Apna Ghar Apni Chhat’ program will be finalized, marking a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to provide affordable housing to its citizens.
