Traffic Police Announces Strict Punishments for Motorcyclists Without Licences

Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar has announced a crackdown on motorcyclists riding without a valid driving license. Those caught without a license will face a fine and have their motorcycles impounded until they provide a valid license.

Motorcyclists found in violation will be fined Rs. 2,000, with their motorcycles seized until they show proper documentation. The officer also clarified that obtaining a motorcycle license costs Rs. 930, urging citizens to follow the legal process.

Furthermore, the 42-day validity for learner permits has been removed, meaning riders must now acquire a full license before using a motorcycle on public roads.

To assist the public, 10 driving license testing centers have been set up across the city. So far this year, more than 500,000 residents have used the license services offered by the traffic department.

This initiative is part of a broader campaign to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic rules in Lahore.
