Punjab Police to Wear Bodycams During Duty Hours

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting in Lahore on Wednesday to assess the law and order situation in the province during the holy month of Rabiul Awwal, as reported by 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz approved a grant of Rs1 billion for the provincial police force and instructed police officials to personally engage with Ulema and scholars.

The meeting also discussed the potential establishment of new checkposts in border areas. The chief minister ordered the immediate provision of bulletproof vehicles and jackets to police personnel and emphasized the importance of advanced training for the police force. It was decided that police officers will be equipped with body cameras during duty hours. She also instructed strict action against the possession of illegal weapons.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed that the security of the public is the top priority of her administration, assuring that every necessary measure will be taken. She urged police officials to act swiftly and decisively against individuals involved in criminal activities, without hesitation. She further directed them to use all available resources to ensure the safety of the people.

Additionally, she warned that strict action would be taken against those who have attacked police checkposts, and directed the police to increase patrolling in their assigned areas. It was also decided that police personnel would be prohibited from using social media during duty hours.
