Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has been announced as part of the commentary team for the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) upcoming domestic tournament, the Champions One-Day Cup.
He will be joined by Pakistan’s cricket analyst Sikandar Bakht, former cricketer Marina Iqbal, Shah Faisal, and Ali Younis in the commentary box. The tournament will also feature sports presenter Meesha Imran, who will be hosting and presenting the event.
The PCB Champions One-Day Cup promises thrilling fixtures with teams like the Dolphins, UMT Markhors, Panthers, Allied Bank Stallions, and Nurpur Lions set to compete. Each team is led by prominent figures in Pakistan cricket:
- Dolphins: Captained by Saud Shakeel, with former national team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed serving as mentor.
- Nurpur Lions: Led by Shaheen Afridi, with legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis providing guidance.
- Allied Bank Stallions: Helmed by Muhammad Haris, under the mentorship of seasoned all-rounder Shoaib Malik.
- UMT Markhors: Commanded by Mohammad Rizwan, with Misbah-ul-Haq, a former captain and coach, offering strategic insights.
- Panthers: Led by the Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan, with Saqlain Mushtaq as mentor.
The PCB Champions Cup will kick off with an exciting clash between the Panthers and UMT Markhors. This inaugural match is scheduled for September 12 at 3 PM at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. The opening fixture is expected to set the tone for the competition, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of Pakistan’s domestic cricket scene.
