The Punjab government has restored the lifetime pension policy for widows, ending the earlier 10-year limit on pension payments.
Under the revised policy, widows and unmarried daughters will now receive pension for life. If a government employee has more than one wife, the pension will be divided equally among them. However, if a widow remarries, the pension will stop immediately.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired the cabinet meeting that approved the decision, while the Finance Department issued the official notification.
The earlier law had limited widow pension benefits to 10 years after the death of the employee. The new decision fully reverses that rule and brings back lifelong pension support for eligible beneficiaries.
