Ahsan Ayaz Qualifies for International Squash Championship Final

Pakistani squash player Ahsan Ayaz stormed into the final of the 247 International Squash Championship, after a dominant win over Egypt’s Karim Elbarbary in the semifinals.

Ayaz, 25, secured a comfortable 3-0 victory with set scores of 11-3, 11-7, and an emphatic 11-0, showcasing his impressive form in the tournament held in New Jersey, USA.

In his previous match, Ayaz defeated compatriot Fawad Khalil in straight sets, winning 11-7, 11-5, and 11-5 to advance to the semifinals.

The second-seeded Pakistani will now face Egypt’s Mohamed Sharaf, seeded third, in the championship final on September 15.

If successful, Ayaz will claim back-to-back international titles, having won the Colleyville Open Squash 2024 earlier this month.

In that tournament, he defeated India’s Yash Bhargava 3-1 in the final. The Colleyville Open and the 247 International Squash Championship offer a $3,000 prize pool.

After his semifinal clash, Ayaz shared his excitement on social media, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “Excited to have made it to the Semi-Final of the 247 International Squash Championship 2024 in NJ, USA. Looking forward to facing Karim Elbarbary of Egypt today at 4 PM EST.”

With Ayaz in top form, all eyes are on the final as he seeks to add another title to his growing list of achievements.
