Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui has informed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) that the regulator will be held in contempt for reinstating the ban on X in the country.
The chief justice expressed strong displeasure during the hearing of a revision appeal filed by PTA lawyers who said the platform wasn’t restored.
PTA sought a revision of a previous order in this regard linked to a recent notification issued by the Ministry of Interior. The court was critical of the regulator’s change in stance and questioned whether this was a case of professional misconduct or misrepresentation.
Chief Justice directly asked the PTA team who had instructed them to change their position. When no clear answer was given, the court indicated that contempt of court charges would follow. The Deputy Attorney General attempted to explain the situation and said this was all due to case-related pressure, but the Chief Justice rejected this, stating that the matter was no human error.
Other PTA lawyers distanced themselves from their revised statement. The bench noted that the PTA could have remained silent rather than offering a conflicting stance. The court also asked if PTA was seeking a revision of the previous order. However, it was made clear that the court would not withdraw or modify the existing decision.
The next hearing on this case has been adjourned until September 24.

Normally I am against banning anything. But I am ok with banning twitter
But force politicians and people of influence to remove their accounts .
Twitter is a cesspool of misinformation and is the reason many people are affected wrongly. It’s where musk gets to site most of his nonsense
