Remission Announced for Prisoners on Eid Milad un Nabi

A special remission in prisoners’ sentences has been announced on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, and the official notification has been issued.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12 Rabi-ul-Awwal) will be celebrated across the country with religious reverence and respect on Tuesday. The government has declared a public holiday nationwide for the occasion.

In line with this, a special reduction in prisoners’ sentences has also been announced, as stated in the notification. According to the notification, a 90-day reduction in sentences has been granted, but this will not apply to prisoners convicted of murder, espionage, or anti-state activities.

Additionally, individuals convicted of offenses such as adultery, theft, robbery, kidnapping, terrorism, and causing harm to the national treasury will not be eligible for this remission. However, male prisoners over the age of 65 who have served one-third of their sentence will be eligible for the reduction.
