A delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) visited Karachi’s National Stadium this week to evaluate the ongoing preparations for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host next February.
The five-member team, comprising senior ICC officials, is conducting a thorough assessment of facilities at various venues to ensure Pakistan is ready for the prestigious tournament.
During their visit, the delegation received a comprehensive briefing from Usman Wahla, Director of International Cricket, and Arshad Khan, Senior General Manager of the National Stadium.
The briefing focused on the construction and upgrades being implemented to enhance the venue’s infrastructure for the global event.
ICC delegation’s itinerary includes inspections of other major venues in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore over their four-day visit.
These evaluations are crucial to ensuring that all facilities meet the high standards required for hosting the Champions Trophy.
This visit follows an earlier inspection by a smaller ICC team in April, underscoring the importance of these assessments in the lead-up to the tournament.
The delegation is set to return to Dubai on September 21, as Pakistan continues its final preparations for its first multi-team cricket event since 2008.
Last week, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice confirmed that there are no plans to relocate the tournament from Pakistan, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to successfully host the event.
Allardice reiterated the ICC’s commitment to fostering global cricket development and enhancing international engagement through such tournaments.
