Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max Impresses in Durability Test

Apple’s iPhones have been structurally sound for the past several years, but the recent internal changes made to the iPhone 16 series put the durability of the latest Apple flagships into question.

This question was swiftly answered by YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s traditional durability test which the iPhone 16 Pro Max passed unscathed. This puts the iPhone 16 Pro Max in stark contrast with the new M4 iPad Pros which snap quite easily just like their predecessors.

The scratch test showed that the iPhone 16’s new camera control button is only prone to scratches at a level 7 on Moh’s hardness scale, indicating the use of sapphire instead of glass. The rest of the iPhone uses the usual titanium and glass which reacts to scratches like before. The titanium part can be marked just as easily as the anodized aluminum sections of the phone.

Then came the usual burn test and while it made for some interesting content, it is not what most viewers look forward to. That privilege goes to the bend test, which showed that the iPhone 16 Pro Max is just as durable as its predecessor. It barely flexed an inch when bent from the front or back and survived the trial through multiple attempts.

The video below shows all the details.
