Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information, Barrister Saif, stated on Monday that despite the KP government’s proposals to the federal government for the regularization of non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles in the former tribal areas and Malakand, there has been no response from the Center, as reported by 24NewsHD TV channel.
“It has been over a month, and we are still waiting for a reply,” he said, adding that these vehicles have also been linked to terrorist activities.
“Progress can only be made once the federal government accepts these suggestions,” Barrister Saif emphasized.
He noted that registering these vehicles would generate revenue for the government and assist law enforcement in tracking down criminals in case of terrorist incidents.
Documents obtained by 24News show that the KP chief minister has approved the registration of over 200,000 NCP vehicles. The provincial government has also recommended excluding stolen or tampered vehicles from regularization.
According to these documents, filers with 800 CC vehicles will need to pay Rs100,000 in taxes, while non-filers will be charged Rs150,000. Similarly, for vehicles over 2500 CC, filers will be taxed Rs700,000, and non-filers Rs1 million.
There is also a proposal to set the registration fee at Rs15,000 for 800 CC vehicles and over Rs100,000 for 2500 CC vehicles.
