NADRA Issues Advisory on Photocopies of Essential Documents

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a public advisory urging Pakistani citizens to refrain from making unnecessary photocopies of their national identity cards, family registration certificates, and other NADRA-issued documents.

According to the advisory, NADRA offices only require original documents for most transactions. Citizens can simply present their original documents or the corresponding NADRA-issued numbers. Only in specific cases, such as documents that NADRA cannot access online, will photocopies be necessary.

NADRA has emphasized that making unnecessary photocopies can pose security risks, as these copies could potentially be misused by unauthorized individuals.

The authority has also provided multiple channels for citizens to report any instances where NADRA staff request unnecessary photocopies. Complaints can be lodged online at https://complaints.nadra.gov.pk or by contacting NADRA’s Central Complaint Management System.

The advisory serves as a reminder to Pakistani citizens to be vigilant about protecting their personal information and to avoid unnecessary risks. By following NADRA’s guidelines, citizens can help ensure the security of their identity and prevent potential fraudulent activities.

  • Nadra doesn’t know that every time i visit bank to renew anything they ask my id card .Don’t trust nadra

    • Yes haha almost everywhere they ask for cnic copy and here nadra will step aside by saying that we don’t ask for photo copies. Ok you don’t but everyone else does.

      • alkhidmat raazi hospital rawalpindi mai dengue test krna ka lia ID card ki copy mang rha hai…… nah do tu test nahi karta

  • Banks always ask for photocopies even for the most basic tasks. What century are we living in?! NADRA should force them to electronically get the data from their servers rather than getting paper copies. So effing annoying!

  • How about making a law to stop institutions from asking for a copy of your ID card, you can’t do anything without a copy. NADRA offices themselves ask for it.

  • This is a sound advice. However, this is applicable for visit to NADRA offices alone. The problem is different. You need to provide a copy of your CNIC even to visit a public toilet. The same bank branch if visited three times in a day will demand a copy of your CNIC three times.

Here photocopies have become not just a business but an industry. Shopkeepers are minting millions from photocopying. If someone from NADRA is reading these comments (Babus though do not bother to read), it should advice all offices, government and private, to stop demanding photocopies unnecessarily and rather check the original CNIC if really required.

I highlighted this problem on the social media years ago.

      • Sorry you are wrong, if you are printing anything from whatsapp direct print then its safe. Consider another example where you have to being usb which can be easily cloned and copied. Finally its a very good practice to convert documents to pdf, this saves from forgery and restricts someone with ill intentions to modify the documents

    • ab kya bolo urine test karana tha copy mang li… hum bola ab mutar ka lia b copy cha hi ha

  • This advice is a joke. Pakistani logon ka data playstore pr apps mein logon ko free b dya jata ha it means pahla he bach dya gya ha…roz lakon frauds ho rha hein and koe pochna wala nhe

  • Should mention the documents available online with NADRA to give moe awareness top public to avoid sharing with NADRA Syaff

  • nadra like every other government institution doesn’t know the ground reality, its simply a case of babus talking about something they don’t know.

  • Very good step by Nadra. At least they have started this journey of not demanding copies everytime in Nadra offices, others can follow. As Nadra has biodata of each citizen this step is valid and in interest of public.

  • alkhidmat raazi hospital rawalpindi mai dengue test krna ka lia ID card ki copy mang rha hai…… nah do tu test nahi karta
