Punjab Police to Acquire Large Drones for Operations in Remote Areas

Punjab Police has announced plans to purchase advanced drones to target criminals hiding in remote regions across the province. These drones will be equipped with cameras for surveillance and will also have the capability to carry and drop mortar shells.

According to police officials, the drones can transport 60 mm mortar shells over several kilometers, providing monitoring and strike capabilities.

This technology aims to enhance operations in difficult-to-access areas where criminals are known to take refuge.

The project will begin with 25 drones, for which a budget of Rs. 35 million has been allocated. Officials have confirmed that a summary for approval has been submitted to the Federal Ministry of Interior. Once the No Objection Certificate (NOC) is granted, the tendering process will proceed.

The deployment of drones is seen as a strategic move to strengthen law enforcement efforts in areas where traditional police operations are challenging.
