The Foreign Office of Pakistan has issued a strong travel advisory, urging citizens to refrain from traveling to Lebanon and advising those already in the country to leave immediately. This warning comes in response to a surge in violence and attacks in the region.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Foreign Office emphasized, “Due to recent attacks in Lebanon, Pakistani nationals are strongly advised against traveling to the country until further notice.”
The advisory highlights that commercial flights are still operational, encouraging those in Lebanon to utilize these services to depart safely. For those unable to leave, the advisory stresses the importance of exercising extreme caution and seeking refuge in safer areas.
The Foreign Office has also provided contact details for the Pakistani Embassy in Beirut, urging citizens to reach out for assistance if needed. The contact numbers are +961-81669488 and +961-81815104, with an email address of [email protected] for further inquiries.
The travel advisory follows Israel’s increased airstrikes in Lebanon, which have resulted in significant casualties. Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad reported at least 51 fatalities and over 223 injuries due to the ongoing attacks.
Tensions are escalating, with reports of Hezbollah firing missiles at Israeli targets, though this information has not been independently verified.
