PCB Looking to Hire a Sports Medicine Consultant

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its plan to hire a Sports Medicine consultant to improve the diagnosis and management of fitness issues affecting cricketers at domestic and international levels.

This decision follows recurring issues in identifying and treating injuries that have impacted players’ performances.

To fill this important position, the PCB has issued a call for qualified candidates specializing in Sports Medicine. The chosen consultant will be responsible for diagnosing and treating injuries, as well as overseeing player rehabilitation. It is thought that the consultant will also work closely with physiotherapists and trainers from both the national and domestic teams to ensure a unified approach to maintaining player fitness.

According to the PCB, applicants must hold an MBBS degree, have at least 10 years of relevant experience, and possess a strong understanding of sports culture and decision-making skills. Applications for the position are open until October 10.

The medical director’s position at the PCB has been vacant since Dr. Sohail Saleem’s resignation after multiple complaints of injury mismanagement with Ihsanullah and Shaheen Shah Afridi being notable players to have been affected.

The PCB aims to fill this gap with a qualified individual capable of effectively managing the fitness needs of the nation’s cricketers, who have been in desperate need of some proper medical support for quite some time
