Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has received the National Tourism Award for exceptional efforts in enhancing domestic tourism. The accolade was presented to PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat during a ceremony commemorating World Tourism Day.
The award acknowledges PIA’s pivotal role in connecting various regions of Pakistan, both domestically and internationally. The airline has launched campaigns to promote the stunning northern areas of the country, significantly contributing to the tourism sector.
A PIA spokesperson expressed pride in the recognition, stating that it reflects the airline’s dedication to fostering domestic tourism as the national carrier.
In a separate incident, a PIA flight from Muscat to Peshawar was forced to make an emergency landing in Karachi due to technical issues. According to details, flight PK 260 departed from Muscat at 5:22 AM but encountered a malfunction in its hydraulic system approximately 30 minutes after takeoff.
As per sources, the aircraft rapidly descended from 36,000 feet to 8,000 feet within seven minutes. The pilot declared an emergency and diverted the flight to Karachi, maintaining a lower altitude. The plane successfully landed at Karachi Airport at 7:08 AM, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew on board.
