Pakistan’s batting maestro, Babar Azam has decided to step down from white-ball captaincy after a string of poor results for the national team.
Babar announced his decision on various social media platforms, citing a major responsibility to lead the team which has had an adverse effect on his batting.
The prolific batter has been struggling with the bat over the past year, failing to perform at his usual standards.
He hasn’t scored a half-century in the previous 16 Test innings while his failures at major ICC tournaments have been a cause of concern as well.
Babar stated that he is determined to get back to his best with the bat and leaving the captaincy role looked like the reason for his poor displays.
Babar will be in action as Pakistan take on England in the three-match Test series, scheduled to commence on October 7.
