Talented batsman and recently appointed vice-captain of the Pakistan Test team, Saud Shakeel has secured a sponsorship with well-known cricketing gear manufacturer Gray-Nicolls. He joins a notable list, with Gray-Nicolls already sponsoring Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan.
In a post on social media site X, the official Gray-Nicolls account posted “Delighted to welcome Saud Shakeel to Gray-Nicolls! Saud has played 12 Tests for Pakistan, scoring three centuries with an average of 56 and a best score of 208 not out. He will be using the new Ventus 1.3. Let’s go!”
The 29-year-old left-hand batsman will hope this new sponsorship also comes with renewed fortunes, especially with Pakistan set to host a touring English side amidst what is a crisis of the highest order. Pakistan have struggled for form of late, and Shakeel along with all of Pakistan will hope that a change in fortunes arrives sooner rather than later.
Across 23 innings in 12 Test matches, Saud Shakeel has maintained a healthy average of 56.30 at a strike rate of 46.66. He has a total of 3 hundreds and six fifties to his name, with his highest score of 208 not-out coming against Sri Lanka in July of last year.
