Tesla’s Sales Surge in Q3 With Over 462,000 Deliveries

Tesla continues to see significant growth in sales, largely driven by the ramp-up in production of the much-anticipated Cybertruck and the company’s attractive incentives, which have helped mitigate the effects of increased competition, particularly from China.

This growth is setting the stage for a potential boost in Tesla’s stock value, with a key upcoming event – the Robotaxi reveal – scheduled for the 10th of October.

Wall Street analysts, according to Tesla’s Investor Relations (IR) consensus, expect the electric vehicle (EV) giant to deliver around 461,978 units in Q3 2024. Specifically, deliveries of the Model 3 and Model Y were projected to account for 433,800 of those units.

Notably, Troy Teslike, a well-regarded analyst known for accurately forecasting Tesla’s quarterly deliveries, had an even higher estimate of 472,000 units for the quarter. This marks one of the largest positive deviations from Wall Street’s estimates since 2021.

In line with these expectations, Tesla has now revealed that it delivered 462,890 vehicles in Q3 2024, with production reaching 469,796 units. To provide context, Tesla delivered 443,956 vehicles in the previous quarter (Q2 2024), when production was 410,831 units.

Breaking down the numbers, Tesla delivered 439,975 units of its popular Model 3 and Model Y, while 26,128 units were from other models, including the Cybertruck, further indicating the growing presence of this new model in the market.

As of the end of Q2 2024, Tesla’s Days of Finished Goods Inventory – a key metric that reflects the number of days vehicles remain unsold – stood at 18, based on an inventory of 106,549 units and an average daily delivery rate of 5,919.41 vehicles. For Q3 2024, this metric slightly increased to 18.38 days, with a higher inventory level of 113,455 units and an average daily delivery rate of 6,171.87 vehicles.
