In light of the upcoming SCO conference, the Punjab government has called upon the Pakistan Army to maintain law and order, and the army has also taken control of Islamabad to ensure security.
The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification regarding the deployment of the army, stating that the armed forces have been summoned under Article 245 of the Constitution.
According to the notification, the army will coordinate with the civil armed forces and police to maintain order during the SCO conference. Security will be enforced at airports, on routes, and in surrounding areas.
Additionally, the Punjab government’s statement highlighted that the military has been given unambiguous rules of engagement. The armed forces, civil armed forces, and law enforcement agencies will be prepared to respond to any threats or potential risks. They will take action in case of attacks or threats from hostile elements, crowds, or rioters.
