The Metro Bus service in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been partially resumed. It is now running from Saddar Station in Rawalpindi to Faizabad, while the service from Faizabad to Pak Secretariat remains suspended.
The service was halted on the instructions of the district administration.
It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests have been ongoing at various locations in the federal capital for the past three days, which led to the suspension of the Metro Bus service. However, the service has now been largely restored.
Recently, the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) has been reopened at all key sections, allowing all types of traffic to pass smoothly. The section from Chakri has also resumed operations, while vehicles from Neela Dullah can now travel via the normal route without any interruptions. Alongside this, the M1 motorway has also been cleared, enabling the free movement of all kinds of vehicles.
The Lahore Traffic Police announced on Sunday that all entry and exit points in the city are now open, with traffic moving smoothly in and out. The Eastern Bypass is now accessible, and traffic flow is normal at major locations such as Babusabu, Thokar Niaz Baig, Shahdara, and Saggiyan, ensuring an uninterrupted commute for residents and travelers.
In Islamabad, the main Kashmir Highway has been reopened for traffic heading towards the motorway, although containers still block the 26 Number Chungi area. Government sources have indicated that clearing the remaining blockades is a priority. Additionally, the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner confirmed that traffic in the garrison city has been restored, with all roadblocks and containers removed.
Both tracks of Murree Road and nearby routes have been cleared, although some obstacles are still being removed. However, the deputy commissioner clarified that the section of Murree Road at Faizabad remains closed, as the Islamabad administration has the authority to reopen it, along with the routes connecting Rawalpindi to the capital city.
