A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Toronto to Karachi departed nearly three hours ahead of its scheduled time.
The incident quickly gained traction on social media. Some said that the flight left without notifying the passengers while others mocked the national flag carrier for the apparent mishap.
At the same time, the incident sparked widespread criticism and confusion among potential passengers and the general public.
In an exclusive statement to ProPakistani, PIA Spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez addressed the situation, providing clarity on the circumstances surrounding the flight’s departure.
“It was a planned schedule change. People were informed. The flight departed with 254 passengers,” Hafeez stated, countering claims that the flight left without notifying passengers.
Hafeez emphasized that the schedule change was communicated to passengers in advance, suggesting that those who were supposed to be on board had been informed and accommodated.
Despite this explanation, the incident has raised questions about communication protocols and passenger notification processes within the airline.
