KP Raises Rs. 250 Million From Markhor Hunting Permits

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has achieved a new milestone by raising Rs250 million through the sale of four permits for markhor hunting. This major financial boost not only signals success for the government but also delivers significant benefits to the region’s economy.

As per the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department, the highest bids for trophy hunting were for the Toshie 1 and Toshie 2 regions. The combined revenue from these two markhor hunts is expected to exceed Rs150 million, marking a triumph for the program.

Additionally, a hunt in Kiga, Kohistan, is estimated to generate Rs53.7 million, while another in Gahirat, Chitral, is projected to bring in Rs52.8 million.

Wildlife officials highlighted that 80% of the trophy hunting revenue is shared with local communities. This allocation supports local economies and contributes to community development as well as wildlife conservation efforts.

This initiative is pivotal not only for wildlife preservation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also for creating economic opportunities for local residents.
