Renowned Pakistani weightlifter and strongman, Nooh Dastgir Butt, has made an impressive start to his powerlifting career on the international stage by securing the gold medal in the Ascot event of the currently at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Classic and Equipped Championships, winning gold in the Ascot event.
“Won gold medal at Commonwealth Classic Powerlifting Championships 2024, Stop me if you can, this Butt is not going to stop,” said the clearly jubilant weightlifter in a post on the social media site Instagram.
A recipient of the Pride of Performance Award and a Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Nooh Dastgir achieved a remarkable lift of 370kg in his first-ever powerlifting competition, marking a historic achievement as Pakistan’s first gold medalist in this sport, according to a press release.
This victory is a milestone for Nooh who has managed to claim gold in what is his debut powerlifting competition internationally. He is now preparing to compete in the Bench Press and Deadlift categories, where he is expected to secure two more gold medals and aim for the overall championship title in the 120kg+ category.
The people of Pakistan are encouraged to send their prayers and support to the man from Gujranwala as Nooh is in the hunt to bring home a total of four gold medals.
