Punjab University has rescheduled its exams due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, ARY News reported on Friday.
According to a university spokesperson, exams scheduled for October 14, 15, and 16 have been canceled because of the SCO summit. These exams have now been rescheduled for October 17, 18, and 19.
The spokesperson added that except for Islamabad and Rawalpindi, exams in other cities across Punjab will proceed as per the previously announced schedule.
Earlier, the Punjab government enforced Section 144 in Rawalpindi for eight days to ensure security during the SCO summit. A notification from the Punjab Home Department stated that all political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, protests, and similar activities would be banned in Rawalpindi during this period.
The ban also includes restrictions on pillion riding, aerial firing, pigeon flying, and the use of drones and laser lights within city limits.
This enforcement will remain in effect until October 17, as per the government’s notification, which was issued to maintain law and order and ensure public safety. Law enforcement personnel will be exempt from these restrictions.
The SCO summit is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. To ensure smooth arrangements, the government has announced a three-day public holiday in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
