Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has reportedly turned to diesel generators to temporarily restore electricity in its headquarters as its financial troubles continued.
According to reports, all the lights and fans at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore are being powered on ad-hoc bases after the electricity supply to the federation was cut off over unpaid bills by the Punjab Sports Board.
PHF has already laid the blame for this debacle at the feet of former secretary Haider Hussain, accusing him of mismanaging affairs leading to the activation of bills that have reached an un-payable amount of nearly 70 million PKR for the often cash-strapped governing body.
Financial troubles for the Hockey Federation are nothing new.
Pakistan hockey lost its former coach Siegfried Aikman over the same issue in the near past and has often failed to provide adequate financial support to its own players.
