Gaddafi Stadium Renovations Near Completion

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has offered a promising update on the ongoing renovations at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

According to sources, PCB looks on course to complete all the targets before the deadline of December 31st of this year ahead of hosting the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

The major changes include increasing the stadium’s overall capacity to 34 thousand spectators and building new and improved international standard enclosures for players, officials, commercial partners and dignitaries which will meet ICC’s highest standards for the showpiece global event to be staged in February/March 2025.

Imported seats and HD screens across the ground will also be installed while LED floodlights will also make for a better overall experience.

PCB is also keeping the fans in mind while designing new ground dimensions. All enclosures are being moved 20 feet further to bring spectators closer to the action.

The ongoing improvements to Gaddafi stadium are costing PCB roughly 7.8 billion PKR of the 12.8 billion PKR budget which was allotted to primp up the stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. Such heavy investment seems to indicate that Lahore will play the central role during the Champions Trophy with both semifinals and the final likely to be played under the lights.
