Mohammad Haris’ recent comments about playing India in the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup have not sit well with former cricketers with Basit Ali the leading voice.
The former cricketer derided the Shaheens’ captain for his remarks during a video clip that has since gone viral. In the video, Haris admitted that the dressing room was forbidden to mention India ahead of their clash on October 19th to avoid added pressure.
“We don’t have to think only about India. We have to consider other teams too. I’ve been in the [senior] Pakistan team and played in the last World Cup. Thinking about India constantly adds pressure. We have to face other teams as well.”, Haris was heard saying.
Haris’ statements awoke a response from Basit Ali, who did not hold back in his criticism of the wicket-keeper batter.
“He has no sense of what to say and what not to. If anyone thinks the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave such instructions, that’s wrong,” Basit stated on his social media channel.
Pakistan A and India A are scheduled to face each other on Saturday at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman in the most anticipated clash of the tournament.
Haris is leading the squad which includes Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Haseebullah, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Omair Bin Yousuf, Qasim Akram, Shahnawaz Dahani, Sufiyan Moqim, Yasir Khan, and Zaman Khan.
