Large Naswar Factory Shut Down in Jeddah, Foreign Nationals Arrested

Authorities in Jeddah have dismantled a large-scale naswar production operation, confiscating 217 kilograms of the illegal product during a major crackdown. The raid by the Jeddah municipality revealed that the naswar was intended for distribution in local markets.

Several foreign nationals were arrested in connection with the operation. According to officials, the individuals had transformed their residence into a makeshift factory, producing naswar and flavored shisha.

The seized naswar has been destroyed, and the arrested suspects have been transferred to police custody for further investigation. This action is part of a broader effort to curtail illegal production and protect public health.

Naswar, a form of smokeless tobacco, has recently been linked to serious health risks. A study has found that it contains dangerous substances such as nicotine, heavy metals, and aflatoxins, all of which are known to increase the risk of cancer.

The Jeddah municipality’s actions reflect growing concern over the harmful effects of this product and its widespread availability.
