Pakistan cricket team’s former captain Mohammad Hafeez seemingly took a subtle dig at Babar Azam while congratulating the team for their win over England.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Hafeez praised the standout performances of Kamran Ghulam, Salman Ali Agha, Sajid Khan, and Nauman Ali, while taking a swipe at players’ “PR agencies”.
“Pakistan cricket needs impactful performances like Kamran Ghulam, Salman Agha’s 50, Sajid Khan’s 9 wickets, and Nauman Ali’s 11 wickets to win. Certainly not PR agencies,” Mohammad Hafeez posted, subtly calling out the dropped Pakistani batter.
His dig is likely a reference to the fact that Babar has enjoyed a certain rapport with the Pakistani fans, who have always spoken in his favor despite his dwindling performances.
Prior to Pakistan winning against England, Babar was in the playing XI for all the games during their significant losing skid while also going quiet with the bat.
With him not in the team anymore, Pakistan rolled to a 153-run win.
Babar seemed to hold no animosity over being dropped as he congratulated Pakistan for ending the winless drought.
The 30-year-old is likely to make a return to international cricket during Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Australia.
