Noman Ali Joins Record Books After Multan Heroics

Pakistani spinner Noman Ali entered the national record books after helping his side win the second test match against England by 152 runs at Multan.

The Wiley 38-year-old finished the game with 11 wickets bamboozling the opposing batter on a turning wicket, sending 8 of them back in the second innings alone.

His victim list included Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jamie Smith, Ben Stokes, Brydon Carse,  Jack Leach and Shoaib Bashir helping Noman register figures of 16.3-1-46-8 in the deciding innings.

His 8 wickets are the most by a Pakistani spinner in the final innings of the match bettering Mushtaq Ahmed’s 7/56 in Christchurch in 1995. Only Sarfaraz Nawaz is ahead of Noman after taking 9/89 against Australia in Melbourne.

Sajid Khan chipped in with two to keep Abdul Qadir’s 9 for 56 against England in 1987 in Lahore as the best figures for a Pakistani spinner altogether.

Noman Ali will be hoping to recreate the magic in the third test as well with the action shifting to Rawalpindi for the decider from October 24th.
