Delays Cast Shadow Over 2025 National Games as Funds Remain Unreleased

The 2025 National Games, scheduled for January and February, are fast approaching, but preparations for the prestigious event remain stalled due to the delayed release of funds.

According to sources, no significant progress has been made in organizing the 35th edition of the National Games, raising concerns about the feasibility of hosting the event in time.

Over 7,000 athletes are expected to compete across more than 30 disciplines, providing a logistical challenge of accommodating such a large number of participants through meticulous planning and timely action. Sources have indicated that without the release of funds, the groundwork for the event cannot even begin, jeopardizing the overall timeline.

February was selected as the ideal time for the 2025 National Games ahead of Ramadan which will be observed in March. This has increased calls for the immediate release of funds to ensure preparations can get underway as soon as possible.

Sources within the Sindh government have hinted that the required funds may be released later this month. However, both the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) and the provincial sports department has since acknowledged that no practical steps had been taken yet, as they are still awaiting the final approval of the funds.

Officials remain hopeful that the funds will be approved soon, allowing the preparation for the Games to finally begin.

With time running out and the clock ticking toward January, all eyes are on the Sindh government to expedite the funding process and kickstart the necessary preparations for what promises to be one of the largest sporting events in the country.

Pakistan Army will defend its crown at the event, having added its 28th title when the event was last held in 2023 in Quetta.
