Australian cricket star Travis Head will miss his side’s white-ball series against Pakistan after opting out to spend more time with his family ahead of the birth of his second child.
The left-hander spent 330 days away from home in the last year, forcing him to take a break from Crickets grilling schedule.
“I’ll probably make decisions in the future around family more, and what drives me to play is probably more my family and my teammates,” Head said during the announcement of his one-year Big Bash League (BBL) contract with the Adelaide Strikers.
He is expected to be back for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is set to begin on November 22nd in Perth.
Travis Head has scored 827 runs against Pakistan in all formats at an average of 35.97.
Head’s absence provides a significant opportunity for younger Australian players to step up in the white-ball series, while the seasoned batter focuses on preparing for a critical Test series against India.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team is set to depart for Melbourne on October 29th. The squad will train at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on November 1 and 2, with the first ODI scheduled for November 4th.
The selection committee, comprising Aqib Javed, Azhar Ali, Aleem Dar, Asad Shafiq, and Hasan Cheema, is currently assessing players for the three ODIs and three T20 matches.
