Last week, Google began distributing its latest Android operating system, Android 15, to eligible Pixel devices. Unfortunately, this update has not been without its problems. Several Pixel 6 owners have reported a serious issue: their devices have become completely unresponsive, or “bricked.”
This issue seems to occur randomly, but some users have speculated that it might be linked to the Private Space feature. Two Redditors have stated that their Pixel 6 phones bricked after activating this feature. However, another user claims that their device bricked during normal use, suggesting that the cause might be more complex.
All reports of the Pixel 6 bricking issue indicate that the devices are completely unresponsive, and standard troubleshooting techniques have been ineffective. While these are isolated cases at present, the problem is severe. If you own a Pixel 6 and haven’t yet updated to Android 15, it’s advisable to wait until Google provides a solution.
Already Arriving on Motorola Phones
Ahead of the usual suspects such as Samsung, other OEMs including Motorola have already started rolling out Android 15 to their smartphones.
Motorola has traditionally been slower than some competitors in updating its smartphones to the latest Android versions. However, this is changing. The company has announced that most devices in its recent Edge 50 lineup will receive five years of major OS updates, and these updates will be delivered promptly.
Motorola has begun distributing Android 15 beta updates to select Edge 50 Fusion devices. Likely, other Edge 50 models will also receive these beta updates soon.
