England has announced the playing XI for the final test match against Pakistan at Rawalpindi. England have made two changes to the side with Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts being rested for the decider.
The visitors have decided to add Rehan Ahmed to a spin attack that already featured Shoaib Bashir and Jack Leach as they look to counter Pakistan on a wicket that is expected to turn.
Rehan, still only 20 years old, will be playing in just his fifth Test match. His debut came in Karachi two years ago, where he announced himself in style by taking a five-wicket haul in Pakistan’s second innings, helping England to a 3-0 series sweep.
His last appearance, though, was less successful, as he struggled against India in Rajkot, taking three wickets for 193 runs across both innings in a heavy defeat for England.
Gus Atkinson will serve as the only seamer in the team with Ben Stokes available to bowl on a need-to basis.
The Rawalpindi surface, traditionally one of the flattest in world cricket, is expected to be prepared differently this time around, with ground staff using industrial fans, patio heaters, and rakes in an effort to dry out and rough up the pitch.
With the series tied at 1-1, the third Test promises to be a fascinating battle as England and Pakistan both seek to secure the series victory with spin-heavy bowling attacks.
