Perth Stadium is gearing up for an electrifying summer of cricket, headlined by the highly anticipated white-ball series between Australia and Pakistan. In preparation for the series, the venue has installed a state-of-the-art drop-in pitch, ensuring top-tier playing conditions throughout the season.
The “Optus Stadium” as it is known for commercial reasons, will host the third and final ODI between the two sides on November 10th. The Pakistan ODI will officially open Perth Stadium’s cricket season, which will also see the stadium host the first Test of the summer during the Border-Gavaskar series between Australia and India, scheduled from November 22-26.
The stadium’s drop-in pitch, developed with HG Turf, was carefully transported by a 30-meter-long, 40-tonne cricket wicket transporter—the only machine of its kind in Western Australia.
Perth usually provides a fast track with plenty on offer for the bowlers and with Mitchell Stark, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins raring to go, Pakistani batters will have their work cut out for them.
The ODI series will kick off on November 4th at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) with Adelaide hosting the second game.
Cricket Australia has already named a 14-member squad for the ODI series sans Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh while Pakistan is expected to name the team soon with plenty of changes expected.
