Australia has unveiled its 14-player squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan, marking the return of several key players.
This series will serve as crucial preparation for Australia ahead of next year’s ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Australia’s squad for the series is as follows: Pat Cummins (c), Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa.
Leading the squad is captain Pat Cummins, who will make his first appearance in a 50-over match for Australia since their triumphant ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final against India last year. Joining Cummins is the experienced all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who also makes his return to the squad.
The squad features a strong lineup of white-ball regulars, including Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, and Josh Hazlewood.
However, the team will be without top-order batters Travis Head and Mitch Marsh, both of whom are on paternity leave. Their absence opens the door for younger talents like Cooper Connolly and Jake Fraser-McGurk, who have retained their places in the squad. All-rounder Aaron Hardie, who impressed against England last month, is also set to continue his international journey.
Notably absent from the squad is all-rounder Cameron Green, who has been sidelined for up to six months due to a back injury. Green’s absence is a setback for the team, given his potential and recent performances.
The series against Pakistan will consist of three ODIs, with matches scheduled as follows:
- First ODI: November 4 in Melbourne
- Second ODI: November 8 in Adelaide
- Third ODI: November 10 in Perth
