The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set for major changes, with former cricketer Aqib Javed emerging as the top choice for the Director of High-Performance position.
Currently, part of the selection committee, Aqib Javed is expected to take over from Nadeem Khan as the PCB moves forward with a strategic overhaul of its leadership structure.
Originally brought in to manage Pakistan’s cricket academies, Javed quickly took on the role of selector as well. With the freedom to bring his ideas to life, the former fast bowler helped revitalize the national team, enabling them to secure a convincing win in the three-match Test series against England. His courageous selection choices and inventive pitch tactics, especially his focus on spin-friendly conditions, have gained him considerable respect within the PCB.
According to reports, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is set to meet with the selection committee this weekend to confirm Javed’s appointment and address further restructuring decisions, including the choice of a new captain. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has emerged as the favored candidate for white-ball captaincy, though some remain cautious about his team preferences. Despite this, selectors emphasize that a strong framework will ensure fair and impartial leadership.
At this point in time, the board is said to be considering moving around three of its current directors, namely Nadeem Khan, Usman Wahla (Director of International Cricket), and Samiul Hasan Burney (Director of Media and Communications). This move follows a noticeable decrease in the chairman’s confidence in Wahla’s performance especially.
Samiul Hasan has also faced growing scrutiny, with recent decisions to replace the media managers he appointed for the series pointing to declining confidence in his leadership. Sources suggest that one of the three directors may be reassigned, while the other two might face outright dismissal.

with naqvi fingering everywhere in pcb nothing will be successful.
