Pakistan cricket team has finally won a test series at home against England to consolidate its position in the latest World Test Championship (WTC) table.
The hosts rode their brilliant spin bowling attack to romp to a 9-wicket win to earn a 2-1 series victory over the visitors, their first since 2023.
The win takes Pakistan up to 7th in the standings ahead of Bangladesh and West Indies with their chances of making the final at Lord’s still pretty slim. The Men in Green’s hopes of playing the illustrious final were dented with poor performances against Australia away and Bangladesh at home.
However, with a relieved Shan Masood at the helm, Pakistan can look to kick on from there.
Meanwhile, England slip to sixth in the rankings with their loss to Pakistan proving detrimental to their chances of playing the WTC Final at home.
India continues to rule the standings despite being in a bit of a bind against New Zealand. Gautam Gambhir’s men are almost certain to make the final with their upcoming series against Australia a real benchmark of their progress.
