The federal government has managed to collect the highest-ever petroleum development levy (PDL) in the first quarter of any fiscal year during July-September FY2024-25.
In 1QFY25, the federal government collected Rs. 261.69 billion PDL, marking the highest first-quarter collection ever. This represents an increase of Rs. 39.62 billion compared to the Rs. 222.07 billion PDL collected in the same period last year.
The petroleum levy target for FY25 stands at Rs. 1.281 trillion. For context, Rs. 1.019 trillion was collected in 2023-24, up from Rs. 580 billion in 2022-23. Currently, a PDL of Rs. 60 per liter is levied on both petrol and high-speed diesel.
