Australia’s narrow win over Pakistan in the first one-day international earned them a place in the record books as the most successful team against the Green Shirts in the history of the game.
The two-wicket win in Melbourne means Australia has now beaten Pakistan a mammoth 71 times out of the 109 matches the two have faced off in. Their domination of this rivalry is highlighted by their winning percentage of 67.13.
Surprisingly, West Indies held the previous record with the same amount of wins against Pakistan but they needed 137 matches to get to that mark.
| Country | Matches | Wins | Win Percentage |
| Australia | 109 | 71 | 67.13% |
| West Indies | 137 | 71 | 52.92% |
| Sri Lanka | 157 | 59 | 39.17% |
| England | 92 | 57 | 63.59% |
| India | 135 | 57 | 42.22% |
| South Africa | 83 | 52 | 62.65% |
| New Zealand | 116 | 51 | 43.9% |
Australia will be hoping to make the record their own outright when they face Pakistan in the second ODI on November 8th and seal the three match series in their favour in the process.
