The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India has finally granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Indian cricket team for the blind, allowing them to participate in the 4th T20 Blind World Cup.
The tournament is set to take place from November 22 to December 3 in Lahore and Multan, Pakistan.
The ministry confirmed that it has no objections from a sports perspective regarding the Indian Men’s Cricket Team’s involvement in the World Cup, provided that all necessary clearances are obtained from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs.
In a statement, the ministry emphasized that the Cricket Association for the Blind in India should approach the MEA and MHA to secure these clearances, supplying them with complete details regarding the participating teams, officials, dates, and venues of the World Cup being hosted in Pakistan.
India already holds two Blind T20 World Cup trophies with both wins coming over Pakistan. If all goes to plan, the Pakistan and Indian blind cricket teams will square off on November 25th.
Bangladesh, Afghanistan, South Africa and Nepal will also field teams during the event.
There is growing hope among the cricketing fraternity that Indian blind cricket team’s visit to Pakistan may open doors for their men’s international team to do the same for the upcoming Champions Trophy next year.
